State of Iowa's "No Pass No Play" Rule

2) If at the end of any grading period a contestant is given a failing grade in any course for which credit is awarded, the contestant is ineligible to dress for and compete in the next occuring interscholastic athletic contests and competitions in which the contestant is a contestant for 30 consecutive calendar days.

Girdles and Socks

We are recommending that all players have a girdle-pad beginning the first day of  practice.  A girdle is a pair of compression shorts that also contain hip and tail pads and a compartment for thigh pads.  Using the girdles is much safer because they fit tighter and will be much more convenient because pads will not have to be moved from practice pants to game pants.  Varsity players will find that their game pants will not accommodate regular pads and will have to have a girdle or wear their practice pants under their game pants.
There are several brands available.  We recommend the "McDavid HexPad" brand because we have had success with them for several years.
Girdles can be purchased at most sporting goods stores including Hopkins, Dunham's, and MCSports.  Normal price is around $35-40.
If you cannot purchase your own girdle, we do have pads that can be used safely.

All players will also be required to purchase a pair of game socks.  In the past we  purchased them from Hopkin's Sporting Goods for $5.   Varsity will wear yellow, Sophomores and Freshmen wear green.  See Coach Weida later in the preseason.
